Paul Simon’s “Wristband”

Paul Simon is a renowned as one of America’s greatest songwriters. Recently, he released his latest album, Stranger to stranger, which is his first album in 5 years. In his latest single entitled “Wristband,” we find Simon telling a story of getting locked out of a venue he is supposed to perform in while he was taking a smoke break.

Here are the lyrics to the chorus:

“Wristband, my man, you've got to have a wristband. If you don't have a wristband, my man, you don't get through the door. Wristband, my man, you've got to have a wristband. And if you don't have a wristband, my man, you don't get through the door.”

Now we’re not here to judge the event planners in this situation (be they hypothetical or not), but Mr. Simon should have been either provided with a V.I.P. wristband, or the staff should have been able to recognize that it’s Paul Simon! The man was in Simon & Garfunkel and wrote “Mrs. Robinson” and “The Sound of Silence” for crying out loud!
